KoalaTracker

KoalaTracker is the national crowdsourced koala map, putting location, points of impact

and cause of death and injury on the public record.  A hub for the sharing of information it has shown state habitat maps to be in error,

the location of koalas where governments thought there were none, engaged

communities in localised conservation and advocacy, provided councils with essential location and risk mitigation data and empowered university research with high

quality data sourced from members of the

public and rescue groups.  Provided for free,

it is self-funded by creator Alex Harris.

Noosa Koala Sightings

This page has been set up to raise awareness of koalas in their natural environment and to help preserve their habitat. It shares photos of koala sightings in the Noosa area, but also of general interest to preserving and protecting koalas for future generations. It liaises regularly with other koala groups. It publishes photos we take when visiting Noosa National Park and checking on resident koalas' health. It invites friends in sharing detailed location information including which tree and if on private property, the suburb and general area to help understand where Koalas might be. Sighting information is made available to Koalatracker and the relevant wildlife and local authorities to help care for our Koalas and their environment. Photos and videos are welcome and can be uploaded anytime.

Queensland Koala Crusaders Inc.

An incorporated association dedicated to improving koala conservation outcomes.  Its mission is to be “a voice for the koala”.

The group’s formation followed the Sunshine Coast Koala Summit held in August 2012.  Foundation members were drawn from existing groups already operating in South East Queensland:  Koala Action Pine Rivers http://koalaactioninc.org, Moreton Bay KoalaRescue http://moretonbaykoalarescue.org and Koala Diaries.  We also work co-operatively with other like-minded conservation organisations, including the Bob Irwin Wildlife & Conservation Foundation, and Queensland experts recognised internationally for their work with koalas.

The Queensland Koala Crusaders Inc committee believes very much in the value of a grass-roots approach to koala conservation – those who are closest to the problems are also arguably closest to the solutions.  The committee’s combined experience in koala conservation – including rescue, rehabilitation and advocacy - spans more than three quarters of a century.
